A combined total of over 60 years of saddle making passion has culminated in the creation of the second saddle of what is an ambitious project for Lisa and Loren Skyhorse, the premier crafters of superlative saddles of museum quality.
"I was so excited to have the opportunity to sculpt and paint this sidesaddle" says master carver Lisa Skyhorse.
"Each piece has been drawn, carved and pushed up from behind to create dimension and relief. Then I hand paint all the carving. I wanted the horse head to evoke a classic, old fashioned horse and horseshoe but add some extra refinement.
The high relief enabled me to sculpt in the muscles and details of the horses face and eye. I love the way the dye blends to accentuate the sculpting."

Loren Skyhorse framed all the edges of the saddle with his famous round edge braiding, using kangaroo leather lace. The 44 feet of edges on this saddle set used 530 feet of leather lacing, taking 80 hours of careful braiding.
The horns and seat and all the linings are padded with bright red, full-quill ostrich leather. The inlaid conchos are sterling silver. The hand braided reins are also kangaroo leather, and were made by renowned braider Jeff Minor.
This is our most romantic saddle yet--and as always, it is also built to ride.
This saddle is the Artist Proof. Numbers 1 and 2 of "Good Luck Sidesaddle" are being offered at $60,000.00 each. These will be custom commissions and can be personalized if requested. Includes: Saddle, Bridle, Breast collar, Bit, Reins, Blanket, Portfolio, and lighted display stand.
